Description
Running along the dorsum of the nose, the dorsal nasal vein is traced superficially over the nasal bones and upper lateral cartilages, just inferior to the glabella and medial to the medial canthus. It courses superiorly to communicate with the angular vein at the side of the nose and with the ophthalmic venous system near the orbit, in close proximity to the lacrimal apparatus. Bony context from the skull is visible, including the orbital rims, piriform aperture, and maxillary dentition, with color coding that distinguishes facial veins from adjacent arteries. Relationships are easy to read. Facial venous anatomy in this region matters because the dorsal nasal vein forms part of the pathway between the superficial face and the orbit through connections with the angular and superior ophthalmic veins.
