Description
Positioned in lateral profile, the third thoracic vertebra (T3) is presented with its vertebral body anterior and the vertebral arch posterior, framing the vertebral foramen between them. The transverse process projects posterolaterally and carries the transverse costal facet (facet for the tubercle of rib) for articulation with the tubercle of the third rib, while the superior and inferior articular processes define the zygapophysial joints above and below.
