From a superior perspective, its lateral premotor cortex occupies the dorsal convexity, while the supplementary motor area (SMA) lies more medial and superior, bordering the paracentral lobule near the midline. The central sulcus and precentral sulcus form key posterior and anterior limits, respectively, anchoring BA6 in relation to the primary motor strip. BA6 matters because motor deficits often arise from impaired planning and initiation rather than loss of strength alone.
