Parietal eminences crown the superolateral aspects of the paired parietal bones, forming the broadest transverse dimension of the cranial vault at the vertex. From a superior viewpoint, each eminence lies lateral to the sagittal suture and posterior to the coronal suture, with gentle curvature falling away anteriorly toward the frontal bone and posteriorly toward the occipital region near the lambdoid suture.
