Description
Presented in an anterior full-body skeletal view, the paired radii are highlighted along the lateral (thumb) side of each forearm, running from the elbow to the wrist in parallel with the more medial ulnae. Proximally, the radial head and neck sit just inferior to the distal humerus at the elbow, with the radial tuberosity visible on the anteromedial aspect immediately distal to the neck. Distally, the radius broadens toward the carpus, aligning laterally with the hand while the ulna remains medial and tapers into its head near the ulnar side of the wrist. Orientation is clear and uncompromised. The radial tuberosity is a key landmark because it marks the insertion of the biceps brachii tendon, and its relationship to the proximal radioulnar joint explains why forearm pronation and supination change the tendon’s line of pull. This anterior perspective also supports teaching of why radial head fractures can restrict rotation and why biceps tendon rupture or tenodesis planning depends on the proximal radius, including the tuberosity’s position relative to the ulna and the interosseous border.
