Description

Oriented in anatomical position, the forearm skeleton is presented from the anterior aspect with the ulna lying medially and the radius laterally. A fracture line interrupts cortical continuity at the distal ulna near the ulnar head and styloid process, with adjacent red highlighting to indicate the injury focus. The distal radius, its ulnar notch (sigmoid notch), and the distal radioulnar joint (DRUJ) relationship are visible, allowing direct appreciation of how closely the ulnar head sits medial to the carpal row. Alignment matters. Distal ulnar fractures carry implications beyond the bone itself because the ulnar styloid anchors the triangular fibrocartilage complex (TFCC), the main stabilizer of the DRUJ.
