Description
Anterior bilateral male lower limbs are rendered with emphasis on the knee region, where the distal femur, patella, proximal tibia, and fibula form the femorotibial and patellofemoral articulations. Superficial venous channels course subcutaneously over the anteromedial leg, consistent with the great saphenous vein ascending anterior to the medial malleolus, along the medial border of the tibia, and toward the medial femoral condyle. Around the knee, tributaries arch across the prepatellar and infrapatellar region, while lateral superficial veins track nearer the fibular head and lateral tibial plateau. A clean bilateral layout supports side-to-side comparison. For venous anatomy, the anterior knee is a common blind spot, yet it is where superficial tributaries converge and where perforating veins can connect to the deep system around the tibial tuberosity and proximal calf. This view helps clarify why varicosities often cluster along the anteromedial shin and around the knee, and it supports teaching of venous reflux pathways relevant to chronic venous insufficiency and recurrent varicose veins after incomplete treatment. It also gives a practical surface map for avoiding superficial veins during anterior arthroscopy portals, prepatellar bursa procedures, and saphenous nerve blocks or harvest planning near the medial knee.
