Description
Running from the temporal fossa to the mandible, the temporalis descends deep to the zygomatic arch toward the coronoid process, while the masseter occupies the lateral ramus and angle of the mandible with a clear superficial fiber direction. Anterior to the auricle, the parotidomasseteric region transitions into the buccinator at the cheek, blending at the modiolus with orbicularis oris and adjacent elevators and depressors of the lips. Superiorly, orbicularis oculi encircles the palpebral fissure, and frontalis and corrugator supercilii sit more cranially and medially, their pull vectors oriented toward the eyebrow. Sternocleidomastoid anchors the lateral neck, descending inferomedially from the mastoid process toward the manubrium and clavicle. A layered face.
