Description
Posterior cranial anatomy is presented with the occipital bone centered in the midline and the paired temporal bones flanking it laterally, their mastoid portions forming the palpable mastoid processes just posteroinferior to the external acoustic region. Superiorly, the lambdoid suture delineates occipital from parietal bone, while the occipitomastoid and parietomastoid sutures converge near the asterion, a reliable surface landmark for posterior fossa orientation. Inferior to the occiput, the cervical vertebrae align beneath the cranial base, with the spinous processes and the gentle cervical lordosis readable as a continuous axial column. Clear landmarks throughout.
