Description

Dominating the frame is the globe of the eye with the sclera forming the outer coat, while a dense episcleral and conjunctival vascular plexus courses across its anterior surface. Arterial branches (red) and venous channels (blue) track in sweeping arcs circumferentially, converging posteriorly toward the optic nerve head region where the central retinal artery and central retinal vein enter and exit the eye through the lamina cribrosa. Yellow neural elements trace posteriorly as the optic nerve, positioned posteromedial to the globe in typical anatomical orientation, with short ciliary vessels and nerves suggested around the posterior pole.
