Spanning the anterior thoracic wall, the pectoral fascia forms a thin investing layer over pectoralis major, blending superiorly with the fascia deep to the clavicle and continuing laterally toward the axilla. Medially it approaches the sternum and costal cartilages, while inferiorly it tracks over the lower slips of pectoralis major toward the upper abdominal wall. Deeper and more superior, the clavipectoral fascia occupies the interval between pectoralis major and pectoralis minor, extending from the clavicle to the axillary fascia and helping define the anterior boundary of the axilla.
