Description
Presented in anatomical position, a semi-transparent female body reveals the axial and appendicular skeleton in situ: the skull with mandible superior to the cervical vertebrae, the thoracic cage (ribs and sternum) anterior to the thoracic spine, and the lumbar vertebrae descending to the sacrum and pelvis. The pelvic girdle sits inferior to the abdominal trunk, with the ilia laterally flaring and the pubic symphysis forming the anterior midline landmark between the hip bones. Proximally, the humeri articulate with the scapulae at the glenohumeral joints, while distally the radius and ulna align with the carpal bones; in the lower limb, the femora descend to the tibiae and fibulae, ending in the tarsals, metatarsals, and phalanges. Because the skeleton is shown through the soft-tissue envelope, this view supports surface anatomy teaching and helps correlate palpable landmarks with underlying bone, from the clavicle and acromion at the shoulder to the anterior superior iliac spine at the hip. Joint alignment stands out.
