Description

Standing in anatomical position, the adult female figure is rendered from the anterior aspect with the cardiovascular system isolated beneath the skin. A four chambered heart sits in the middle mediastinum, posterior to the sternum and slightly left of midline, with the ascending aorta rising superiorly to form the aortic arch before continuing as the descending thoracic aorta. From this front view, the pulmonary trunk exits the right ventricle and courses superiorly before dividing toward the lungs, while systemic arteries and veins track distally into the neck, upper limbs, trunk, pelvis, and lower limbs in paired, largely symmetric pathways. Orientation matters here. An anterior whole body circulatory layout gives the cleanest teaching perspective on how central outflow from the left ventricle feeds the arch vessels to the head and upper extremities, and how venous return converges toward the superior and inferior venae cavae to reach the right atrium. It also maps directly onto common access and intervention routes, from jugular and subclavian central venous catheter placement to femoral arterial cannulation and catheter based approaches that travel retrograde through the aorta toward the coronary ostia and aortic valve. Landmarks read at a glance. Use this asset for gross anatomy and physiology coursework, cardiovascular blocks, and overview figures in patient education or medical publishing where you need a whole body context rather than a regional dissection plate. It also supports clinical training materials that compare surface anatomy to underlying vessel trajectories during venipuncture, central line placement, and basic hemodynamics teaching. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
