Posteriorly, the thigh is dominated by the hamstring group, biceps femoris laterally and semitendinosus with semimembranosus medially, all coursing inferiorly from the ischial tuberosity toward the proximal tibia and fibula. Deep fascia (fascia lata) invests the compartment and blends laterally with the iliotibial tract, while the lateral and medial intermuscular septa tether fascia to the linea aspera of the femur to separate posterior musculature from the anterior and medial compartments. The popliteal fossa sits distal to the muscle bellies, where the hamstring tendons frame the superior borders as they pass toward the knee. Clean compartment boundaries.
