Oriented in anatomical position, the anterior hand is opened to emphasize the radialis indicis artery as it courses along the radial border of the index finger, running parallel to the adjacent digital vessels toward the distal phalanx. Proximally, the vessel arises from the deep palmar arterial system near the first intermetacarpal space and lies superficial to the metacarpals and phalanges, with the flexor tendons and their fibrous digital sheaths forming a pale longitudinal backdrop. Carpal bones and metacarpals anchor the proximal field, while intrinsic thenar and interosseous muscle bellies occupy the palmar compartments medial to the vessel’s track.
