Description
Seen from a lateral cranial perspective, the sphenoparietal sinus is traced as a narrow dural venous channel running immediately inferior to the lesser wing of the sphenoid and along the anterior margin of the parietal region. Superficial cortical veins on the lateral convexity converge toward the anterolateral cranial base, where the sinus courses anterior to the temporal lobe pole and deep to the dura adjacent to the sphenoid ridge. Nearby landmarks you would expect in this projection include the frontal, parietal, temporal, and occipital lobes, with the brainstem descending inferiorly toward the upper cervical cord. Small, bright cranial nerves are suggested around the brainstem, providing orientation without obscuring the venous anatomy. A small sinus. Easy to miss.
