Description
Cut through the male calvaria exposes the cranial cavity in an oblique, partially sectioned view, with the circle of Willis and proximal cerebral arteries traced in red against the inner table of the skull. From the M1 segment of the middle cerebral artery, multiple lenticulostriate arteries arise on the superior and medial aspect of the Sylvian region and course superomedially and posteriorly toward the anterior perforated substance. Their fine caliber and deep trajectory point to their perforating distribution within the basal ganglia and internal capsule, positioned medial to the insular cortex and lateral to the midline skull base. Blue channels suggest adjacent venous or dural sinus anatomy along the inner surface of the cranial vault. Small vessels. Big consequences.
