Description
Seen from an anterior perspective, the male globe is presented as a split view combining an external surface rendering with a sagittal section. Anteriorly, the transparent cornea forms a smooth dome continuous with the sclera at the limbus, and it overlies the blue iris and central pupil. Posterior to the pupil, the crystalline lens sits on the visual axis, suspended by zonular fibers to the ciliary body, while the retina lines the posterior wall internal to the vascular choroid and fibrous sclera, converging at the optic disc into the optic nerve as it exits the posterior pole. Teaching the eye from the front often fails when learners cannot reconcile what they see clinically, cornea, iris, pupil, with what they must understand surgically and physiologically behind it. The half-section clarifies the anterior chamber and lens position relative to the ciliary muscle, a relationship that underpins accommodation and the pathophysiology of angle-closure glaucoma, where a crowded anterior segment can obstruct aqueous outflow at the iridocorneal angle.
