Description

Presented in anterior orientation, the maxilla is seen forming the upper jaw, with the frontal process projecting superiorly along the lateral margin of the piriform aperture toward the frontal bone. Inferiorly, the alveolar process outlines the dental arcade, while the anterior surface spans medially toward the intermaxillary region where it meets the contralateral maxilla at the midline. Laterally, the zygomatic process thickens toward the zygoma, framing the facial buttress of the midface. Clear landmarks. This anterior maxillary view is the one you want when teaching midface skeletal support and the relationship of the maxilla to the nasal aperture and upper dentition.
