Description
Running along the mesenteric border of the colon, a perivascular nerve plexus invests the middle colic artery as it courses within the transverse mesocolon, then continues onto the right colic and ileocolic arteries as they descend toward the hepatic flexure and ileocecal junction. An anterior perspective places the transverse colon superior to the ascending colon, with the right colic territory lateral and the root of the mesentery and ileocolic pedicle trending inferiorly and medially. The arterial arcade and adjacent arterioles are framed against characteristic colonic landmarks, including haustra, taeniae coli, and epiploic appendages. Male visceral anatomy. Clear relationships.
