Description
Centered in a frontal, anterior view of the male torso, the abdominal esophagus descends through the diaphragm to meet the gastric cardia just left of the midline, with the dome of the fundus projecting superiorly beneath the left hemidiaphragm. The body (corpus) of the stomach extends inferiorly and to the right, then narrows at the antrum toward the pylorus, which lies more medial and rightward before continuing as the proximal duodenum. In an obese habitus, the stomach sits deep to a thicker anterior abdominal wall, so surface contours appear muted even though the fundus remains the highest portion. Orientation is explicit.
