Description

Radiating from the centrally placed heart, the ascending aorta and aortic arch give rise to the brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid artery, and left subclavian artery, with the carotids ascending superiorly through the neck toward the intracranial circulation while the subclavians course laterally beneath the clavicles into the axillary and brachial arteries. Parallel venous pathways return blood via the internal jugular and subclavian veins into the brachiocephalic veins and superior vena cava on the right side of the mediastinum. Superficial and deep vascular channels are readable through a semi-transparent male torso, with the ribs, clavicles, sternum, and vertebral column providing clear osseous landmarks for vessel orientation. Small-caliber branches suggest arteriole to capillary level distribution across the face, scalp, and upper thorax. Emphasizing the head, neck, and thoracic outflow tracts makes this view practical for teaching where clinicians palpate, cannulate, compress, or operate.
