Description
Full-body anterior anatomy of a female child highlights the heart and the great vessels as they branch through the thorax, abdomen, and limbs. The aortic arch gives rise to the brachiocephalic trunk, left common carotid artery, and left subclavian artery, with the common carotids ascending medially in the neck while the subclavians course laterally toward the axilla to become the axillary and brachial arteries. Inferiorly, the descending thoracic aorta continues as the abdominal aorta and bifurcates into the common iliac arteries, while the superior and inferior vena cava return blood to the right atrium, collecting from the jugular and subclavian veins superiorly and the iliac and femoral veins inferiorly. A superficial lymphatic network is also represented alongside the blood vessels. An anterior whole-body rendering like this makes it easier to teach directionality of flow and the parallel organization of arterial and venous pathways, where paired deep veins often accompany named arteries in the extremities. Pediatric context matters: vessel caliber, relative heart position in the thorax, and the prominence of the great vessels are common sticking points when correlating basic anatomy with pediatric echocardiography, congenital heart disease patterns, and catheter routes. Clear depiction of femoral access up the external iliac to the inferior vena cava, or radial and brachial arterial pathways, supports procedural planning and complication teaching. Suitable for cardiovascular anatomy blocks, pediatric nursing and allied health curricula, and textbook figures introducing the systemic circulation and major vessel nomenclature in Terminologia Anatomica terms. It also fits patient-facing materials in pediatric cardiology clinics when explaining where a murmur workup leads or why vascular access is chosen. Anatomical accuracy verified by SciePro's Medical Advisory Board.
