Description
Palmar soft tissues are removed to expose the deep skeletal framework of the wrist and hand, with the distal radius and ulna leading into the carpal bones, metacarpals, and phalanges in anatomical alignment. Deep to the flexor tendons, the interossei occupy the intermetacarpal spaces, while the thenar and hypothenar muscle groups sit on the radial and ulnar sides of the palm, respectively, framing the central metacarpals. Flexor tendons run distally toward the digits, crossing the carpal region under the flexor retinaculum, and the intrinsic muscles cluster most densely around the metacarpophalangeal and interphalangeal joints.
