Description

Palpation of the radial artery at the distal radius, femoral access just inferior to the inguinal ligament, and popliteal assessment deep in the popliteal fossa all become easier to teach when the vessel path is anchored to the radius, pelvis, and distal femur and tibia. In trauma and vascular surgery, this orientation supports rapid reasoning about hemorrhage control, tourniquet placement on the proximal limb, and why fractures of the pelvis or femur can endanger nearby large-caliber arteries.
