Description
Spanning from the cranial vault to the distal extremities, the female nervous system is rendered with the central nervous system in continuity with the peripheral nerves. Superiorly, the brain occupies the cranial cavity and transitions caudally into the spinal cord within the vertebral canal, from which segmental spinal nerves emerge bilaterally. In the trunk and limbs, major peripheral pathways course laterally and distally from the cervical, thoracic, lumbar, and sacral regions, forming paired nerve distributions into the upper limbs and lower limbs with a largely symmetrical left to right pattern.
