Description
Posterior to the knee joint, the inferior lateral genicular artery courses transversely around the lateral aspect of the proximal tibia, passing deep to the lateral head of gastrocnemius and near the fibular (lateral) collateral ligament as it approaches the lateral tibial condyle. Distally, it contributes to the genicular anastomosis along the posterior capsule, with branches that arc medially toward the popliteal fossa while smaller arterioles track along periosteum and capsular attachments.
