Tenia thalami (taenia thalami) runs as a narrow longitudinal ridge along the dorsomedial margin of each thalamus, forming the attachment line for the epithelial roof of the third ventricle. From a superior perspective, the paired tenia thalami border the ventricular roof medially while the thalamic surfaces lie lateral to the midline slit of the ventricle. The ridge is positioned inferior to the bodies of the lateral ventricles and superior to the midbrain tectum, marking where tela choroidea and choroid plexus relate to the diencephalic roof. Small but specific. For teaching ventricular anatomy, the tenia thalami matters because it defines a surgical and embryologic seam: the choroidal fissure region where the vascular tela and ependymal roof meet the thalamus, and where the choroid plexus of the third ventricle anchors.
