Interthalamic adhesion (massa intermedia) spans the midline within the third ventricle in this lateral (side) view of the diencephalon. The right and left thalami form the superior and lateral walls of the third ventricle, and the adhesion appears as a narrow band crossing the ventricular cavity between them, positioned posterior to the interventricular foramen and superior to the hypothalamic region. Surrounding ventricular contours define the third ventricle’s slit-like profile, with the adhesion interrupting the otherwise CSF-filled space rather than forming a true commissural fiber tract.
