Description
Centered on an anterior body outline of an adult Black woman, the alimentary tract is overlaid from the oral cavity into the cervical and thoracic esophagus, then through the abdominal viscera. The stomach sits in the left upper quadrant, inferior to the diaphragm and medial to the spleen region, with the liver occupying the right upper quadrant and projecting across the midline; the pancreas lies posterior to the stomach along the duodenal sweep, while the small intestine coils centrally and inferiorly. Framing those jejunoileal loops, the large intestine courses peripherally as ascending colon on the patient’s right, transverse colon superiorly, and descending and sigmoid colon on the left before continuing into the rectum in the midline pelvis. Orientation reads cleanly in anatomical position. An anterior perspective like this matters when you need to teach surface and quadrant-based localization rather than isolated organ anatomy.
