Description
Running from the medial cord of the brachial plexus, the ulnar nerve tracks inferiorly along the medial aspect of the upper arm, closely related to the axillary and proximal brachial region before approaching the elbow. Proximally it lies anterior and medial to the humerus, then courses toward the posteromedial elbow where it passes posterior to the medial epicondyle on its way into the forearm. Portions of the shoulder girdle and thoracic cage (scapula, ribs), the humerus, and the paired forearm bones (ulna and radius) provide clear osseous landmarks, while superficial venous channels are drawn in parallel to emphasize neurovascular proximity. Fascicular organization and the neurilemma are implied by the crisp nerve rendering rather than microanatomic cross sections. This perspective matters because the ulnar nerve’s transition around the medial epicondyle defines a common entrapment site and a palpation landmark.
