Posteriorly, the septal laminae relate to the columns and body of the fornix as they course toward the diencephalon, with the thalamus and third ventricle region sitting deeper and more caudal. For teaching ventricular anatomy, this view clarifies how the septum pellucidum partitions the paired lateral ventricles anteriorly without forming a true ventricular roof or floor, a point that often confuses learners when moving between gross sections and neuroimaging.
