Description

Medial compartment osteophytes arise along the margin of the medial tibial plateau and the medial femoral condyle, flanking the tibiofemoral joint line where the articular surfaces normally meet under load. From this medial perspective, the patella sits anterior to the femoral trochlea, while the tibia lies inferior to the femur with the joint space narrowed between them. The articular cartilage is shown thinned and irregular, and periarticular erythema suggests synovitis or capsular inflammation adjacent to the degenerative margins. Bone contours look jagged where new bone has formed.
