Description
Posterior lower leg anatomy is rendered with the skin partially transparent, centering on the tibia and its relationship to the slender fibula. The tibia occupies the medial side of the leg, with the fibula running parallel and lateral from the fibular head proximally toward the lateral malleolus distally. A transverse tibial shaft fracture is highlighted along the posterior cortex, oriented perpendicular to the long axis and interrupting the normally continuous posterior border as the bone descends from the proximal metaphysis toward the ankle. For operative planning, the view also supports discussion of reduction goals for intramedullary nailing or plate fixation, where restoring length and rotation is judged against the parallel tibia-fibula alignment and the distal relationship to the ankle mortise.
