Posterior shoulder anatomy is presented with the scapula lying against the thoracic wall and the proximal humerus articulating at the glenoid cavity. Along the posterior capsule, capsular thickening blends with the posterior band of the inferior glenohumeral ligament complex as it spans from the glenoid rim to the anatomic neck of the humerus. Superiorly, the coracohumeral ligament and superior glenohumeral ligament are inferred near the rotator interval, while the scapular spine and acromion form a bony roof lateral to the joint line.
