Description
Framed from the anterior aspect, the abdominal aorta lies medial to the kidney and gives rise to the renal artery as it courses laterally toward the renal hilum, with the inferior vena cava positioned to the contralateral side as the dominant blue venous channel. Near the renal surface, the artery is shown approaching its segmental branching pattern before continuing into interlobar and arcuate distributions that supply the cortex beneath the fibrous capsule. Inferior to the hilum, the ureter descends from the renal pelvis, aligning with the collecting system that fans into major and minor calyces. Attention to the renal artery from this projection matters when planning or interpreting procedures that depend on predictable arterial segmentation.
