Description
Centered in the anterior neck, the cervical vertebral column (C1 through C7) aligns inferior to the cranium and superior to the thoracic inlet, with the transverse processes projecting laterally and the anterior tubercles forming palpable ridges along the mid to lower cervical levels. Superiorly, the hyoid bone sits in the suprahyoid region, suspended above the laryngeal framework, while the airway column is suggested by the trachea descending in the midline. Inferiorly, the clavicles arc laterally from the manubrium of the sternum, with the first ribs and upper thoracic cage faintly visible beneath.
