Abductor Digiti Minimi Under the Skin, Anterior View

Beneath the palmar skin on the ulnar side of the male hand, the abductor digiti minimi forms the superficial hypothenar contour running from the pisiform and tendon of flexor carpi ulnaris toward the base of the proximal phalanx of the fifth digit and the extensor expansion. Medial to the central palmar aponeurosis, its muscle belly lies superficial to deeper hypothenar fibers (flexor digiti minimi brevis and opponens digiti minimi) and blends distally with fibrous septa that tether the skin. More radially, the long flexor tendons to the fingers (flexor digitorum superficialis and profundus) track distally beneath the palmar fascia into the digital fibrous sheaths, with the little-finger tendon slip positioned just lateral to the hypothenar mass.
