Across the anterior (palmar) aspect of the male hand, the superficial palmar venous arch curves transversely within the subcutaneous tissue, just distal to the wrist crease and proximal to the bases of the metacarpals. From this arch, superficial venules course distally toward the digits as palmar digital veins, while proximally the drainage converges toward the wrist to join the superficial venous network of the distal forearm. A faint skeletal silhouette of the carpals, metacarpals, and phalanges anchors the vessels in relation to the palm, and deeper, cooler-toned channels may suggest adjacent arterial pathways or deeper venous channels running nearer the palmar aponeurosis.
