Description
Presented in anatomical position, an adult male skeleton is shown from the anterior aspect with ligamentous and tendinous structures emphasized in the pelvis and proximal thigh. Along the midline, the sternum and costal cartilages sit anterior to the thoracic vertebral bodies, while the pelvic ring lies inferior, with the iliac crests lateral to the sacrum. Red highlights mark attachment sites around the anterior pelvis, consistent with the pubic symphysis region and the proximal femur near the acetabulum. Bone first, soft tissue second. Across the anterior pelvis, this is the territory where clinicians argue about stability: the pubic symphysis and its superior and inferior (arcuate) pubic ligaments, the anterior sacroiliac ligament spanning the ilium to the sacrum, and the inguinal ligament forming the thickened inferior border of the external oblique aponeurosis from the anterior superior iliac spine to the pubic tubercle.
