Description
Colored anterior presentation of the stomach (gaster, ventriculus) separates the cardia, fundus, body, and pylorus with clear color coding. The cardia sits superiorly and slightly medially at the gastroesophageal junction, while the fundus balloons superior and left (patient’s left), forming the dome beneath the left hemidiaphragm. Inferior to the fundus, the gastric body occupies the central anterior surface and continues distally into the pyloric part, which narrows toward the pyloric canal and pylorus at the gastroduodenal junction, positioned more to the right and inferior. Color-segmenting the gastric regions matters because pathology, endoscopic descriptions, and operative planning often hinge on regional anatomy rather than the stomach as a single organ. Ulcers cluster along the lesser curvature and in the antrum and pyloric channel, gastric outlet obstruction centers on the distal stomach, and hiatal hernia or reflux disease is discussed in terms of the cardia and proximal stomach.
