Description

Fasciola hepatica is rendered as an elongated, leaf-like trematode with a broad anterior end tapering posteriorly, consistent with adult liver fluke morphology. An oral sucker sits at the anterior tip, with a ventral sucker positioned slightly inferior and posterior to it on the ventral surface, and a short pharynx leads into paired intestinal caeca that branch laterally and extend toward the posterior third of the body. Dendritic internal tubules and lobulated fields suggest the reproductive tract, with coiled uterine loops occupying a more anterior, medial position while branched testes and vitelline follicles distribute more posteriorly and laterally.
