Description
Arising from the right lower lobar bronchus, the lateral basal segmental bronchus (B9) courses inferolaterally toward the outer basal region of the right lower lobe. From a right-sided perspective, its lumen and wall sit lateral to the medial basal segmental bronchus (B7) and typically posterior to the anterior basal segmental bronchus (B8), with the diaphragmatic surface lying inferior to the segmental distribution. Peripheral branching follows the pleural contour toward the costophrenic recess. Orientation is the point. Segmental bronchial anatomy matters when disease respects segmental boundaries.
