Description
Lateral head and neck anatomy is rendered with the auricle (pinna) emphasized in blue, allowing the elastic auricular cartilage framework to read clearly against the surrounding soft tissues. Within the pinna, the conchal bowl sits centrally and deep, continuous with the external acoustic meatus, while the helix and antihelix form superior and posterior curvatures and the tragus and antitragus project anteriorly around the conchal opening. Adjacent facial musculature, including orbicularis oculi, zygomaticus major and minor, and orbicularis oris, occupies the anterior field, with the sternocleidomastoid descending inferolaterally from the mastoid region of the temporal bone toward the manubrium and clavicle. Color-coded vasculature (arteries in red, veins in blue) and superficial nerve pathways (yellow) make this plate useful for correlating auricular landmarks with regional blood supply and sensory innervation.
