Anterior abdominal surface anatomy is paired with a transparent overlay of the right upper quadrant, allowing the liver to be seen superiorly with the gallbladder (vesica biliaris) tucked on its inferior surface in the gallbladder fossa. The fundus projects anteroinferiorly toward the right costal margin, while the body tapers posteriorly into the neck, which continues as the cystic duct. Medial to this, the extrahepatic biliary tree is suggested by the common hepatic duct joining the cystic duct to form the common bile duct on its course toward the duodenum.
