Sagittal section through the female uterus centers on the endometrium (tunica mucosa uteri), with the stratum functionalis lining the uterine cavity and the deeper stratum basalis applied directly to the underlying myometrium. Superiorly, the mucosa reflects over the fundus and continues inferiorly toward the isthmus and endocervical canal, maintaining a continuous luminal surface.
