Description
Radiating within the dura mater (pachymeninx), the major dural venous sinuses are rendered in blue against the inner table of the calvaria, with the superior sagittal sinus tracking in the midline along the attached margin of the falx cerebri and coursing posteriorly to the confluence of sinuses. From the confluence near the internal occipital protuberance, the transverse sinuses extend laterally along the tentorium cerebelli, then curve inferiorly as the sigmoid sinuses toward the jugular foramina, where they continue as the internal jugular veins. Smaller dural channels and communicating venous tributaries branch between these larger collectors, emphasizing the cross section-like layout of venous pathways within the cranial cavity.
