Description
Anteriorly oriented, full-body osteology of an adult female is presented with semi-transparent integument, allowing the axial and appendicular skeleton to read as a single framework. Superiorly, the calvaria and facial skeleton align with the cervical spine, which continues inferiorly through the thoracic vertebrae behind the rib cage, then into the lumbar spine and sacrum within the pelvic ring. Laterally, the clavicles and scapulae frame the thorax, the humeri descend to the elbow where radius and ulna diverge distally, and inferiorly the femora articulate at the knee with tibia and fibula continuing toward the tarsals and metatarsals. Posture is neutral, arms slightly abducted to keep the upper limbs from overlapping the trunk. Whole-skeleton views like this are where alignment problems become obvious: scoliosis curves, thoracic kyphosis, and lumbar lordosis can be compared against normal spinal contours, and pelvic obliquity or limb length discrepancy becomes easier to explain when the entire kinetic chain is visible at once. The female pelvis, with its broader subpubic angle and wider pelvic inlet, also supports teaching distinctions relevant to obstetrics and to sex estimation in forensic anthropology. Fracture patterns and joint loading discussions land better when learners can follow force transmission from the foot and tibia through the femur into the acetabulum and spine.
