Description
Centered on the right upper limb, the humerus is presented in anterior aspect from the humeral head at the glenohumeral joint down to the distal condyles at the elbow. A jagged diaphyseal fracture lies near the deltoid tuberosity on the lateral shaft, with the proximal fragment aligned superiorly toward the greater tubercle and the distal fragment continuing inferiorly toward the trochlea and capitulum. The glenoid cavity of the scapula frames the humeral head proximally, while the ulna and radius articulate distally, clarifying the humeroulnar hinge and the radiocapitellar relationship in the same field. Superficial soft tissues are rendered transparently so you can keep orientation to the arm’s contour while reading the bony landmarks. Midshaft humeral fractures at the level of the deltoid insertion are a classic setup for associated neurovascular injury because the radial nerve and profunda brachii artery course posteriorly in the radial (spiral) groove and can be tethered as fracture fragments displace or as callus forms.
