Description
Centered in an anterior view of the male cerebrum, the interhemispheric fissure separates the right and left frontal lobes while the lateral convexities carry the highlighted inferior frontal sulcus. That sulcus runs roughly horizontal on the anterolateral surface, inferior to the middle frontal gyrus and superior to the inferior frontal gyrus, helping define the pars opercularis and pars triangularis on the dominant hemisphere. Superiorly, the sulcal pattern grades toward the superior frontal region, while inferiorly the frontal operculum approaches the Sylvian fissure (lateral sulcus). A clear surface landmark.
